With any event as large as the Gospel Concert there are many people behind the scenes doing a great deal of work. This includes contacting musicians, looking after schedules, printing posters, putting up signs, advertising,
preparing the grounds, buying food, putting up tents, setting up sound equipment and many other tasks. Many thanks to the congregation, especially the youth, of the Tremont Baptist Church for their hard work.
On the day of the concert one of the most important responsibilities is looking after the sound. Mike works the sound board throughout the day with the help of a friend who gaves him a needed break. Between checking that every singer and instrument can be heard, working the tape machine and making sure everyone can clearly hear the music, the sound person has a busy day.
One of the important aspects of any public event are the facilities. There are several possibilities for anyone needing a restroom. A Port-a-potty is provided on site for everyone's convenience. Also adjacent to The Pines are several very friendly businesses, including a Dairy Queen. They are very supportive and are open to
serving those who attend the concert.
Although there are several eating establishments within a short walk, there are concessions provided for those who do not want to leave the concert. The youth tend the concessions while the adults take turns operating the BBQ. We provide a shelter with tables and chairs where people can go and enjoy their food and have a great time talking.
In order to make sure everyone is informed of the days events, there is an Information Center. The main responsibility of those tending the Information Center is to distribute the programs. This allows people to know who the musicians are and what time they will be performing. Those working in the information center answer questions, provide
information about the local area and greet those who are attending the concert.
Throughout the day there is an atmosphere of excitement as people get caught up in the Spirit. The purpose of the concert it to bring glory to the Lord. Some do this by singing and playing music. Others glorify the Lord by serving others so that those who attend the Gospel Concert will have a memorable day.
