The Reasons For Building A New Worship Center

As the Body of Christ we have a mission to share the message of new life and build up believers in their faith. Those individuals who put their faith in Christ and are born-anew are the Church. This spiritual Body has the hope of being with Christ for eternity. In the mean time, while we remain here in this world, we continue to share the Gospel and prepare Christians to live for Christ. In order to do this more effectively we believe it is necessary to build a new Worship Center in Greenwood. Greenwood is now the main commercial and population center of this area. It is here that we believe God is leading us to carry out His mission.

Reasons for building a new worship center:

1) Our former facilities were outdated and did not reflect the type of buildings people have become accustomed to frequenting. People have moved into the area and have driven past our old location even though we offered the kind of ministry many of them were seeking. Eventually some of those individuals came to worship with us. We have needed a more modern facility for some time.

2) Our facilities were inadequate for the kinds of ministries we have wanted to conduct. We have required a building which could be used seven days a week. With improved facilities we will have a much more effective minister to a broader range of people.

3) Our former location was off the main thoroughfare. Even though we were only about 1km. outside of Greenwood, many people did not know where we were located.

4) We require a worship facility which enables a diversity of activities. These activities include gospel concerts, evangelistic services, retreats and programs for people of all ages.

5) We need a facility which can accommodate a nursery, meeting rooms, coffee shop, auditorium, kitchen, library and offices.

6) We are interested in using the latest technology to aid our ministry. We would like to incorporate technologies such as; in-floor heating, modern lighting, a sound system, powerpoint and computers.

7) We are building a new worship center in order to reduce the cost of maintenance. The upkeep of a new building should be minimal. Previously we had to maintain two older buildings which required constant repair.

8) We require a multi-use facility which will be very flexible in the ways it can be used. It could be used, not only by our fellowship but also by many other different types of organizations. This will help to build positive community relationships.

9) We have had long term stable leadership and a congregation which has been unified in their desire to carry out our mission. We have the resources and ability to take on this project and see it through to completion.

10) Greenwood has been very receptive to us whenever we sponsored events in the community. For many years we hosted Sunday evening Drive-in Services throughout the summer. We also held one of Atlantic Canada's largest Gospel Concerts on our property.

11) Because of the airforce base, people from all over the world come to Greenwood. People have visited our fellowship from Germany, Korea, Japan, Sweden, United States, Mexico and from almost every province in Canada. We hope even more people, from many different places, will visit our fellowship in the future.
